A two week AICTE Sponsored FDP on “Information & Cyber Security Management” was organized at College of Technology, G.B Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar during 22nd December 2013-5th January 2014. |
|
Around 50 participants from different engineering colleges across India participated in this coveted event. Mr. Divyanshu Sinha, Assistant Professor, Computer Science Department represented Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida in this event. |
|
The inaugural ceremony of the programme was presided by Dr. P.K Saxena, Director (Scientific Analysis Group) DRDO, Dr. H.C Sharma, Dean (College of Technology GBPUAT), Dr. B.K Kushal, Director DSB, Prof. S.D. Samantaray, FDP Co-ordinator& HOD (CSE), Prof. Jalaj Sharma FDP co-coordinator. |

Dr. P.K. Saxena and Dr. Samantaray addressed the participants and during their address explained the importance of familiarity with cyber security because of the rapidly increasing rate of Cyber Crime and that measures should be adopted to check this growing rate and educate the common man about the occurrences of such activities. |
|
A number of distinguished delegates, researchers and speakers from academic and industrial background addressed the participants during this programme. |
|
Dr. P.K. Saxena briefed the participants about the threats arising to the country’s defense through the malicious activities dominant in the cyber world today. |
|
Dr. Veer Singh, Director (Communications, GBPUAT) gave all the participants a brief glimpse about the culture of GB Pant University of Agriculture & Technology. |
|
Dr. Shivendra Kashyap, Professor (Education Technology Division, GBPUAT) gave the attendees an idea of different learning styles and about the group learning process. He divided the participants into different teams and made them compete to enhance team spirit and also stressed on use of such exercises to promote the feeling of oneness amongst the students. |
|
Prof. B.K Singh, Computer Science Dept, College of Technology, GBPUAT addressed the participants on the topic ‘Information Society’. In his talk he stressed on the ever increasing need of information by our society today to arrive at critical conclusions and as to how to validate the integrity of the information which comes from numerous sources. |
|
Mr. Vivekanand, Assistant Professor Birla Institute of Applied Sciences Bhimtal stressed on the need of Information Security in today’s world. Mr. G.S. Mishra & Dr. Kiran Kumar from Sharda University focused on the various security strategies that should be adopted in Wireless Sensor Networks. |
|
Mr. Sunil Khatri, Director Amity University Noida delivered a talk on Cyber Policies and use of Data Mining in Cyber Security. Mr. Nigam Yadav, Head of SNA India, Orange Inc explained the various threats that Orange Inc faces in its day to day operations and also gave an insight as to how they mitigate them. |

Mr. Sudhanshu Sharma Consultant (Security, Cyberoam) demonstrated the power of Cyberoam’s UTM software for prevention of Information threats to the corporate world. |
|
Among the other noted speakers were Mr. Rakesh Sehgal , CDAC Mohali who taught the participants different techniques to encounter day to day information threats. |
|
Dr. Gulshan Rai, Director Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-IN) explained the IT Act 2008 to all the participants. |
|
Mr. Omveer Singh , Additional Director , Incharge Cyber Forensics Lab, CERT-IN gave an inspiring talk on Cyber Crime & Forensics. |
|
Mr. R. Babu, GCFA, CERT-IN gave the participants a hands on session on different Cyber Forensic tools being used to nab cyber criminals. |
|
An interactive visit was organized to the High Court Nainital where Hon. Justice Mr. U.C Dhyani & Mr. Amninder Kanwar Registrar, High Court Nainital addressed the participants about the various legal technicalities on Crime Jurisprudence. |
|
The programme concluded on 5th January 2014 with a valedictory where the participants received their certificates of participation. |
