QEEE Session On

Differential Amplifiers - Analog Electronic Circuits

01st, 03rd and 06th March 2017

QEEE Session on “Differential Amplifiers - Analog Electronic Circuits” was organized by IIT, Madras, under D2S (Direct to Student) program at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida on 01st, 03rd and 06th March 2017. Prof. (Dr.) Hitesh Shrimali of IIT, Mandi was the resource person and Mr. Sunil Kumar, Assistant Professor EEE, DGI Greater Noida was the Local Faculty Coordinator for this session. Students of ECE 6th and 8th Semester attended the session.

Day 1: 01st  March 2017

Prof. (Dr.) Hitesh Shrimali started the session with an explanation of the pseudo differential, differential and fully differential amplifier. He also described the differential operation requirement, process, voltage and temperature (PVT). He gave details on the amplifier design check list in industry, single ended differential operation, basic differential pair (qualitative and quantitative analysis). He also explained how amplifier work in all modes and demonstrated some numerical problems as well as attended to the quarries of the students.

Day 2: 03rd March 2017

Prof. Hitesh Shrimali started the lecture with a brief review of the topics covered in his previous lecture. He then explained operational mode like cut-off, saturation and active mode of amplifier with the help of circuit diagram along with Pseudo-Differential with some characteristics independent on both balanced networks. He also clarified about the elimination of even harmonics in amplifier that makes common mode output voltage to zero which depends on the input common mode voltage (VCMI). At the end of this lecture he gave answers of different questions asked by the students.

Day 3: 06th March 2017

The third and last session of this QEEE Program started with the basics of Frequency Response Analysis: Poles, zeros and bandwidth calculation (3-dB and unity gain bandwidth). Prof. Shrimali said that due to resistors, inductors and capacitor networks (RLC) in amplifier and filter there is an important relationship between the reactive components and the circuit’s frequency response characteristics. The program came to an end at 12:10 PM with the discussions on amplifier and response of amplifier.

To check the understanding of the students, quizzes and proctored quiz followed by an assignment was given to the students, which has to be submitted by the students through their QEEE account.
