Celebration of Constitution Day

26 November 2016

“Our Federal Constitution embodies the idea of Modern India:it defines not India but also Modernity.” - Dr. Pranab Mukherjee, President of India.

Constitution Day (Samvidhan Divas) is celebrated on 26th of November every year in India to honor and remember the Father of Constitution, Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar. The constitution of India was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on 26th November 1949 and came into force on 26th January in 1950. Dr. Ambedkar was invited by the government to serve as the first Law Minister of India and was appointed as the Constitution Drafting Committee’s Chairman. The constitution of India was adopted to constitute the country as an independent, communist, secular, autonomous and republic to secure the Indian citizens by the justice, equality, liberty and union.

Dronacharya Group of Institution, Greater Noida celebrated Samvidhan Divas on 26th November 2016 to create an awareness about the Constitution of India amongst the students. The aim of the event was to inculcate values in the young minds and also inspire them to be law abiding citizens of the country. It is believed that this small effort will enrich the ability of students regarding their responsibilities towards the Nation.

Prof. S. K. Bagga, Director, DGI, Gr. Noida highlighted the significance of celebrating the Constitution Day. He said that the Constitution is a core legal document which lists out fundamental rights of citizens, their duties, role of the government, interaction between the government and its citizens, powers of the Prime Minister, President, Governor and Chief Minister and defines how the federal structure of the country is maintained. Prof. Bagga also threw light upon the hardships and journey of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, who was the chief architect of the Indian constitution.

Dr. Abhishek Swami, DGI-NSS Coordinator, said that the constitution of India is very unique all over the world and took around 3 years to be passed by the Constituent Assembly.

The students, faculty and staff members were made aware about the "PREAMBLE TO THE CONSTITUTION" as part of celebration.

The event ended with group photograph.
