“Telecommunications and ICTs: Drivers of Innovation”

 

IETE, New Delhi

The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), New Delhi organized 47th World Telecommunication and Information Society Day Celebrations on “Telecommunications and ICTs: Drivers of Innovation”, on May 16th, 2015. Mr. Abhishek Jha, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering attended this technological event as an IETE coordinator of Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida. The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) - India's leading recognized professional society devoted to the advancement of science, technology, electronics, telecommunication and information technology was founded in 1953. It serves more than 69,000 members through 59 centers/ sub centers primarily located in India (3 abroad). The Institution provides leadership in scientific and technical areas of direct importance to the national development and economy. Government of India has recognized IETE as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) and also notified as an educational Institution of national eminence. The objectives of IETE focus on advancing electro-technology. The IETE conducts and sponsors technical meetings, conferences, symposia, and exhibitions all over India, publishes technical journals and provides continuing education as well as career advancement opportunities to its members.

 

This special celebration on “Telecommunications and ICTs: Drivers of Innovation” was presided by Smt. Smriti Dagur, President of IETE. The Chief Guest of the event was Shri Rakesh Garg, Chairman, Telecom Commission & Secretary, Dept. of Telecom, New Delhi. The Guest of Honour and Keynote Speaker to the event was Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar, EEE Dept, IIT Delhi, Member (PT), TRAI, Editor-in-Chief, IETE Technical Review.

 

The programme started at 5:00 PM with the lightning of the ceremonial lamp and invocation. The distinguished speakers addressed the gathering on technological advancements in telecom technologies. The lecture provided very significant knowledge about Telecom services. Prof. Kumar described the working model of telecom infrastructure in India. He discussed many recent advancements and subjects of recent debates such as Net-neutrality.

 

This conference offered an opportunity to have rich technical interaction. It provided an opportunity to connect with the people and place on a much deeper level. The conference also provided first-hand knowledge about the organizational structures and modes of operation in a telecom industry.
