INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATION

RAJPATH, NEW DELHI

DGI NSS Wing , Greater Noida participated in First International Yoga Day celebration on 21st June 2015 at Rajpath, New Delhi. Dr. S.K. Srivastava, Mrs. Bhanu Bhardwaj, Dr. Arindham Ghoshal, Mr. Abhishek Jha, Mr. Manjit Mishra, Mr. Anoop Kumar, Ms. Shailika Sharma, Mr. Dinesh Kumar, Mr. Anuj Verma, Mr. Amit Sharma and Dr. Anupam Kumar along with more than 150 DGI NSS Volunteers participated in the International Yoga Day.

 

Rehearsal for International Yoga Day was organized on 18th and 19th June 2015. All the volunteers and the faculty members reached Rajpath at 4:00 AM. Ernst & Young (EY) Team members divided the volunteers into group of 30 and allotted them their zones and trained them to evaluate the record of Yoga performer. Each volunteer were assigned 50 yoga performer.

 

On June 21st 2015 (FINAL DAY) NSS Volunteer of DGI GREATER NOIDA along with faculty members reached Rajpath early in the morning at 3:30 AM. Over 35,000 people from across 84 nations gathered to perform 21 yoga asanas. Guinness Book of World Records acknowledged the event as the largest gathering of people practicing in a yoga event here.

 

At 6.30 AM. Prime Minister, Sh. Narender Damodhar Bhai Modi reached the venue. He said “Yog is more than only physical fitness, we are not only celebrating a day but we are training the human mind to begin a new era of peace”. He also said this RAJPATH is yog path today. Modi ji thanked the United Nations and 193 countries for their unprecedented support in passing a resolution moved by India to declare June 21st as International Day of Yoga.

 

YOGA started at 7:00 AM. India led 191 countries to mark the International Yoga Day celebration with over 40,000 participants performing various yoga 'asanas' at the mega event on Rajpath.

 

While Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the gathering, diplomats from 152 foreign missions were invited to take part in the event which started at 7:00 AM.

 

The Guinness Book of World Records registered the event for the largest yoga demonstration or class at a single place.

 

The event was beamed live on 32 LED screens set up on the 1,400 metre stretch at Rajpath. The event ended with chanting of AUM at 7:35 AM.
