SAFAL YUVA : YUVA BHARAT (Life and Message of Swami Vivekananda)

Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities organized a One Day Workshop on Safal Yuva: Yuva Bharat: Life and Message of Swami Vivekananda on 27th February, 2015 at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida. The event was conducted by Mr. Manas Bhattacharjee, Delhi Prant Sangathak and the volunteers of Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Delhi Prant. The event aimed to equip the youths with the skill of transforming challenge into opportunity and inculcate leadership qualities in them.

A book stall was also set up by the volunteers to display literature on Swami Vivekananda and to make the young generation aware with his global thoughts.

The event began with an informal but in an organized way where students were divided into two groups. The informal session aimed to break the ice and to lighten up the atmosphere.

The volunteers of Vivekananda Kendra got the students involved in various group activities in which they exhibited their intrapersonal skills such as attentiveness, leadership, communication skills, singing, dancing etc. After their informal interaction and fun based activities the students demonstrated their original attitude and developed informal relationship with their group members. The two groups were further divided into four teams namely “ Dinkar”, “ Diwakar”, “ Bhaskar” and “Ravi”.

Students were asked to prepare a skit on social themes such as “Youth Power”, “College life”, “Indian Political System”” and “Changes in Value System”. They were given twenty minutes to prepare three minutes skit. The students used their creativity to make the skit effective and appealing. They were guided by the volunteers for preparing skit.

After interaction and discussion the students assembled in the seminar hall where the event began with formal note. Dr. Shilpi Saxena, Event Coordinator presented a brief overview and the objective of the event. Dr. Shilpi also highlighted the sparkling ideas and narrated some inspiring incidence of Swami Vivekananda’s life.

Prof. S.K. Bagga, Director, DGI, Gr. Noida welcomed Mr. Manas Bhattarjee by presenting bouquet. The volunteers Mr. Amit Kumar, Mr. Harish Chandra, Mr. Sumit Sonkar, Mr. Ashutosh Kumar Singh, Ms. Unnati Sharma, Ms. Shaysha Bhatt and Ms. Neetu were also welcomed by Prof. Ashwani Kumar, Administrator Academics, Dr. Abhishek Swami, HOD, Department of APS and Dr. S.K. Srivastava, Professor, Department of APS.

In his welcome speech Prof. S. K. Bagga enlightened the students with his motivational words and emphasized on the need of character building. Mr. Manas Bhattacharjee, the resource person discussed the teaching of swami Vivekananda and the spark that every individual shares in his ideas.

The students presented their skits on the allocated themes and gave social and moral messages of unity, cooperation and discipline. The purpose of the activity was to ensure participation of each member of the group and to evaluate their ability to present group ideas skillfully. A video entitled “How to Transform Challenges into Opportunities” was shown to the students.

The event came to an end with the memento presentation. Prof. Abhishek Swami rendered Vote of Thanks.

The workshop was successful in developing positive attitude, presentation skills and team spirit among the students. It also provided a platform that invigorates the young generation of the country with the vision of Swami Vivekananda.
