  Guest Lecture on Information Hiding and Steganography

Department of Electronics Communication Engineering, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized a Guest Lecture on ‘Information Hiding and Steganography’ on 29th September, 2014. The resource person for the guest lecture was Dr. S.K. Pal, Scientist F, Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO).

Prof. (Dr.) M.S. Murali, Director, DGI, Greater Noida faculty members of Electronics Communication Engineering Department and students attended the lecture.

The event began with the floral welcome of Dr. S.K. PAL by Prof. (Dr.) M.S. Murali.

The purpose of the expert lecture was to increase the knowledge of students regarding how Information could be hid and even then how the existence of information to any image could be identified.

Dr. S.K Pal started the session with the introduction to Cryptography. He highlighted several issues like size of the Network, Network Security etc. He discussed how Information security could be secured with the help of Information hiding techniques. He emphasized on the uses of Steganography to hide the information into some cover media. He explained a generic model of Steganography communication. He also presented his idea on Watermarking.

Dr. Pal demonstrated S-Tool which is used to identify the existence of Information behind the image. He also discussed how to embed hidden data inside a carrier file, such as an image or video, and later how to extract that data.

The session came to an end with the questionnaire round.
