A workshop on Industrial Automation - PLC & SCADA was held at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida during 28th February - 1st March, 2014. The workshop wasconducted by Innovians Technologies Pvt. Ltd. and organized by Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering. 46 students participated in the workshop. Mr. Prateek Gupta, Founder, Innovians Technologies Pvt. Ltd. was the trainer for the workshop.

Workshop started with an inaugural speech from Prof (Dr.) M.S. Murali, Director, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida. The workshop had four sessions. In first session, a presentation on recent trends in industrial automation was delivered by Mr. Prateek Gupta. Main focus of the presentation was:

4. Introduction To PLCs

5. PLC Advantages Over Microcontrollers

6. Area Of Applications

10. HMI Introduction & Its Need

11. SCADA Introduction& Its Need

During the second session, Mr. Gupta introduced implementation of PLCs & SCADA in industries. This session was the foundation of the next sessions of the workshop. In third session he gave an overview of PLC I/O Basics, Burning and Interfacing concepts. Different programming concepts of PLCs of Allen Bradley & Rockwell Automation were the key features of session. Some topics of the session were:

2. Brief Description To Input/ Output Pins Of Micrologix-1000

3. Ladder Diagram Basics

4. Introduction To RSLogix

5. Downloading a Ladder Program in PLC Using RSLinx.

6. Running First PLC Application.

After an introduction, he provided hands on training to the students on Allen Bradley PLC kit. In the last sessions, a competition among all the participants were held. Team of Abhishek Dhoundiyal, Ashish Singh and Pawan Kumar of Electronics & Communication Engineering ,VIth semester won the competition and got Certificate of Merit.
