Awareness Session on Hepatitis

Dronacharya Group of Institutions Greater Noida in association with Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and Dr. Reddy’s Foundation for Health Education organized a Health Awareness Session on "Hepatitis” in the college campus under the banner of DGI SMILE Club on 26th June 2014. The objective of the event was to increase knowledge and awareness about chronic viral hepatitis.

In the morning between 10:00 AM - 12:00 AM a ‘Free Screening Campon Hepatitis’ was also conducted in which all the staff members of DGI got their blood check-up done.

Dr. Manish C Kak from Columbia Asia Hospital conducted the awareness session at 4 :30 PM. The event began with the floral welcome of Dr. Kak by Prof. B. L. Kaul Registrar, DGI Greater Noida.

Dr. Kak began his session by providing the shocking information regarding Hepatitis and presented the most recent national and international surveys. He pointed out that hepatitis B and hepatitis C often present no symptoms and infected people remain unaware until they develop liver cancer or liver disease years later.

He discussed that these diseases are not widely recognized as serious public health problems, and as a result, that viral hepatitis prevention, control, and surveillance programs have inadequate resources. He also focused on the need to make progress in the areas such as awareness of infection, testing and diagnosis.

The session ended with the interactive session. Dr. Kak answered the questions raised by the audience regarding symptoms of hepatitis. Dr. Kak was presented with a memento by Prof. Kaul for his valuable contribution in conducting the awareness session.
