Innovation Festival - 2015

 

National Science Centre (NSC), New Delhi

 

   

National Science Centre, (National Council of Science Museums) Ministry of Culture, Government of India organized three day “Innovation Festival-2015” during 27th - 29th March, 2015 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

 

Following three Projects from Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida were shortlisted for display in Innovation Fair during the Innovation Festival-2015.

 

1. Efficient Mechanical Rickshaw

Projectee: Shiva Chauhan, III Year Mechanical Engineering

Mentor: Mr. Brijesh Verma

2. Modified Double Cylinder Hand Pump

Projectee: Sajan Kumar Sah, III Year Mechanical Engineering

Mentor: Mr. Brijesh Verma

3. Safety & Anti-Theft Security System

Projectee: Rahul Chaurasiya, III Year Mechanical Engineering

Mentor: Mr. Ankush Yadav

 

The objective of the Innovation Festival - 2015 was:

1. To provide a platform for showcasing innovation in products and services

2. To foster a passion and aptitude for science and technology and

3. To provide a unique platform to creative innovators to showcase their inventions

4. To create a culture of innovation among different cross section of our society

 

It was a unique combination of art, crafts, science and technology. The three day festival included popular science lectures, Robofest, hands– on Minds – on session, innovative challenges, science quiz for family and individual challenges.

 

Leading institutions and individuals including Aeromech Institute of Technology Delhi Technical University and others have participated in this event at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

 

The Efficient Mechanical Rickshaw (EMR) project has been adjudged best in Technology and awarded FIRST prize during the valedictory function held at Pragati Maidan on March 29th , 2015 by Dr. Rama Sarma Director, National Science Centre, New Delhi.

 

The project is a modification in existing mechanical rickshaw. It comprises no. of spiral sp+++++++ ring used to store strain energy by reverse pedaling of rickshaw pedal. The stored energy can be further utilized to supplement the initial torque or increasing speed of rickshaw.

 

Salient features of Efficient Mechanical Rickshaw:

1. Provide supplementary initial torque to rickshaw.

2. Causes less fatigue.

3. Easy to run (physically weak person).

4. Pollution free.

5. Economical.

6. Simplicity in operation.

7. Higher speed.

 

All the projects displayed in the exhibition were built keeping in mind upliftment of the society and meant for use by common man.
