Vivekananda’s Global Thought

 

Hoshiarpur, Punjab

 

6th - 7th February, 2015

   

Rayat- Bahra Institute of Engineering & Nano Technology, Hoshiarpur, Punjab organized Two days International Conference on “Arise Awake and Stop Not: Reflections on Swami Vivekananda’s Global Thought” on 6th and 7th February, 2015. The conference was sponsored by Punjab Technical University. The conference aimed to spread Swami Vivekananda’s spiritual and philosophical thoughts and to explore the inner power of mankind.

 

Dr. Shilpi Saxena, Associate Professor, Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida attended the event as a presentator.

 

The event began with the ceremonial lightning of lamp and Ganesha Stuti followed by welcome address by Dr. D.S. Bawa, Director, RBGI Hoshiarpur. Dr. Vinay Sophat from Saheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Mr. C.S.Talwar, Founder General Secretary, Swami Vivekananda Study Centre, Punjab and Ms. Alkagauri Joshi, Jeevenvrati, Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, Shri Sandhya Prakash, Academician and Mystic and Dr. Satish Kapoor, Registrar, DAV University Jalandhar were the resource persons of the event. The resource persons revealed various motivational incidences and stories of Swamiji’s life and enlightened the participants.

 

Prof. (Ms.) S. K. Bawa Dept. of Education, PBI University, Patiala was the resource person of the session. Dr. Shilpi Saxena presented her paper on “Education: A Man Making Process through the Vision of Swami Vivekananda”. In her paper she discussed the sparkling ideas of Swami Vivekananda and his contribution for humanity, spirituality, religion and society. She focused on Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy of Education that is assimilation of noble ideas. She discussed the scheme of man making education in the light of the philosophy of Vedanta.

 

She also added examples of great Indian philosophers and concluded that the main aim education is self-realization and the realization of divinity within self.

 

The valedictory session was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Vijaya Nadda, Dr. Chander Mohan, JCD, RBJI, Hoshiarpur and Dr. A.P.Singh, Dean RIC, PTU, Kapurthala. The guests appreciated the efforts of organizing committee for taking such a brilliant initiative to glorify the inspirational life of Swamiji.

 

The participants gave their valuable feedback and appreciated the spirit of students and faculty members. Dr. S. C. Sharma, Principal, RBIENT cum Conference Chairman extended Vote of Thanks and distributed certificates to the presenters and participants.
