WORKSHOP ON “LINEAR INTEGRATED CIRCUITS - A SYSTEM APPROACH”

30th May to 1st June 2016

A workshop on “Linear Integrated Circuits - A System Approach” was organized by Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow in collaboration with Sapience Consulting under Texas Instruments India University at MIET, Meerut during 30th May – 1st June 2016. Mr. Nitin Kumar, Assistant Professor (ECE) from Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida attended the workshop. Instructors Mr. Raghav Ankur, Mr. Abdul Samad and Ms. Manjit Saini were invited from Texas Instrumentation as keynote speaker.

The workshop was aimed at providing the state - of - art knowledge in the area of Linear Integrated Circuits to learn real world concepts and complement it with unique hands on experience in analog domain on ASLK (Analog System Lab Kit) Pro Kit. It is designed to support all features to realize real time analog projects and applications.

Day 1: 30th May 2016

The inauguration session started with the speech of Lt. Gen. J.M. Garga, Director General, MIET, Meerut about the importance of measurement in the engineering.

The workshop started with the introduction of Texas Instrumentation and their ASLK Pro Kit by Ms. Manjit Saini. She explained different sections of ASLK Pro Kit. She said that the Main ICs used in ASLK Pro Kit are TL082 dual JFET operation amplifier, MPY634 analog multipliers, DAC7821 digital to analog converter, TPS40200 DC / DC buck converter, TPS7250 LDO regulator IC.

Hands on training of Pre Lab Experiments on ASLK Pro Kit were given by Ms. Saini. Pre Lab Experiments are performed to check DC errors of a circuit. In case of Op - Amp, DC errors consist of Input Offset, Input Bias Current and Slew Rate. Training on study the characteristics of negative feedback amplifiers, regenerative feedback system, a stable & mono stable multi vibrator and integrators & differentiator circuits were also provided on ASLK Pro Kit.

Day 2: 31st May 2016

Ms. Saini started the session with introduction to circuit simulation. She said that training on circuit simulation is provided on TINA Software which is available on Texas Instrumentation website. Training on design of analog filters, function generator, VCO / FM Generator, and PLL are also provided on ALSK Pro Kit.

Day 3: 1st June 2016

Hands on training on design of Automatic Gain Control, Automatic Volume Control DC - DC Converter and Low Dropout (LDO) Regulator Control were given on ALSK Pro Kit by Ms. Saini.

The workshop ended with a feedback session followed by Vote of Thanks by Mr. Devendra Sharma HOD (ECE), MIET, Meerut.

The entire workshop was very educative and informative. All the participants got the exposure of ASLK Pro Kit, Tina Software, Linear Integrated Circuit Lab and TL082 OP - Amp IC. In the new syllabus of IV Semester B.Tech (ECE) TL082 Op - Amp is included in Linear Integrated Circuit theory subject as well as in the lab. The knowledge gained from this workshop will be beneficial for teaching the students as per new syllabus.
