MAKING INDIA IT LITERATE

Spoken Tutorial Project of IIT Bombay is the brainchild of Prof. Karan Mudgalya nurtured by National Mission on Education Through ICT (NMETICT), MHRD, Govt. of India. UPTU, Noida Campus organized a workshop on Spoken Tutorial in collaboration with IIT Bombay to train the faculty coordinators of different colleges on 27th January, 2015.

Ms. Shivangi Maheshwari, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering from Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida attended the workshop.

The main objectives of the workshop were:-

• To impart knowledge about the Spoken Tutorial project and how it is beneficial for the students’ career.

• To gather the coordinators of different colleges and perform a communication round among them so that they could share     their knowledge and ideas.

The workshop started with the welcome speech at 11:30 AM by Ms. Neha Srivastava, Training Coordinator of Spoken Tutorial, IIT Bombay. She first introduced about the agenda of workshop. She gave a presentation about the details of Spoken tutorial and the courses conducted by IIT Bombay.

She focused on the utility of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) like LIBREOFFICE, PYTHON, LINUX, RUBY, PERL, JAVA Net Beans etc. She clarified that there is no issue of copyright for downloading the source material. She said that there are three levels of course material; basic, intermediate and advanced.

Ms. Shivangi Maheshwari was called upon to share her experience as a Coordinator of Spoken Tutorial at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida. She explained the practical aspects of inspiring and getting students certified online.

The workshop came to an end with the question answer session followed by filling up of feedback forms.
