A Two-Day Innovation Summit, Melting Pot 2020 was organized on November 24th and 25th, 2016 at Taj Vivanta Surajkund, NCR. This was a platform that aimed to bridge the gap between academia and industry through innovation in different fields. It brought together top minds from academic institutions, corporates, government bodies, NGOs and edu-promotion societies to a single platform for the core purpose of catalyzing innovation through dialogue and collaboration.
The summit saw a confluence of ideas to drive innovation and catalyze India’s transformation into one of the top 10 Innovative countries of the world. The focus was to identify and discuss in detail key drivers, challenges and game changing solutions that have the potential to pave a roadmap to create an innovation-fueled global economy powered by break-through research at the institutional and corporate level.
The key research areas that was displayed and discussed at the summit included IoT, FinTech, EdTech, Healthcare, Renewable Energy, Automotive & Material Sciences and Big Data.
Speaking on the initiative, Piyush Gupta, President, Kestone IMS Pvt. Ltd. Said that with almost 2 decades of experience of working with Industry & Academia, we had realized that if the gap between academia and industry can be bridged in a manner where the strength of each other can be maximized, India will be one of the strongest economies in the world. He opined that while working closely with young minds through his research firm, he was amazed to see the hunger for creating something new that can bring significant change in common man’s life.
Speakers at the summit included Arun Purohit, Former VP Global Marketing, Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited & Consultant Healthcare, Prof. Sadagopan, Director, IITB; Vinnie Jauhari, Director Education Advocacy, Microsoft; among others.
143 teams with their projects from all over India participated in this competition out of which 15 projects were selected for Best Innovative Project.
DGI Project "IOT Based Health Care System" was shortlisted and won in the category Young Innovator Award –Open Section.
Prof. (Dr.) S K Bagga, Director, DGI-Greater Noida congratulated the students and appreciated their effort.
