BENTLEY SOFTWARE

A seminar on “Modern Technology in Bentley Software” was organised by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi on 29th February 2016. Mr. Aishwary Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida along with 14 students of B.Tech (CE - VI & CE - VIII) attended the program.

The session was oriented towards the importance and usage of the software launched by company in multi - disciplinary fields such as Micro Setting, Aero 3D pro, Staad Pro etc.

The seminar was addressed by Mr. Greg Bentley, CEO and founder of Bentley Systems. During the introductory session Mr. Greg explained exclusive features of various software of Bentley system. He also discussed about various innovations being carried out during the development of the product.

After the introduction Mr. Bentley emphasised on the product ‘Micro Station’ mainly developed for virtual modelling. For modelling, software collects data by various methods of surveying i.e. by drones, camera, geo - positioning, actual photographs and aerial photographs. Once data is collected, software can easily make a virtual 3D model of any area. Case studies on “The City of Philadelphia” and “Nagpur Metro” were discussed. This software requires involvement of Information Technology, Operational Technology, Engineering Technology and Digital Engineering Model. The software can create or edit virtual 3D model and help in good operation of real model on the basis of virtual one and edit data to improve 3D models. Complicated models like cities, plants, refineries can easily be understood and operated by the software.

The program ended with quiz and prize distribution of previously held competitions on the software.

The seminar helped students and faculty members to understand the features and applications of the new software to a greater depth.
