QEEE Session on Multivariable Calculus was conducted by IIT Madras on 17th, 19th and 21st October 2016 under D2S (Direct to Student) Program. Prof. G. Venkatesh, Department of Mathematics, IIT, Madras conducted the session. The students of Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering from 1st Year attended the session which was organized at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida and coordinated by Mr. Prassan Sharma (Assistant Professor, Department of APS).

Day 1: 17th October 2016

On the first day of the session, Prof. G. Venkatesh gave a brief introduction of Calculus. He explained application of the differentiation and integration and described the basic differentiation method of integration. He also explained the importance of Double and Triple integration and how to use Complex Number in signaling problem. He discussed about the ‘Google Play Store’ Application “MYLSPOT THETA” and motivated the students to develop and use it.

The first day session ended with Q&A round. Prof. G. Venkatesh allocated assignments to the students.

Day 2: 19th October 2016

The second day began with Prof. G. Venkatesh brushing up the previous day’s session. He made a presentation on how to plot the graphs in Cartesian and Polar Coordinates. He highlighted the surface area of solids generated by rotating a curve and nets and explained Multiple Integration with practical examples. The session ended with solving of problems related to Double Integrals.

Day 3: 21st October 2016

On the third day Prof. G. Venkatesh started his lecture with explaining the change of order in Multivariable Calculus. He highlighted the importance of this topic and explained how to convert the system from Cartesian to Polar Coordinates using Jacobian Matrix.
