DGI NSS student volunteers under the guidance of Dr. S.K. Srivastava, NSS Program Coordinatorand faculty coordinators Ms. Shailika Sharma and Ms. Bhanu Bhardwaj, participated in International Volunteers Day organized by United Nation Development Program (UNDP), in collaboration with Prime Minister, Narendra Modi's Clean India Mission (Swachha organization) at Kudsia Ghat, ISBT, Delhi, on 14th December, 2014.

The event was organized to draw public attention towards the cleaning of banks of river Yamuna. Around 600 people cycled around the city to raise awareness on the importance of cleanliness. The Director of UNDP India, Jaco Cilliers appealed to promote healthy living along with cleanliness campaign.

Over 3,000 volunteers including students, artists, working professionals, entrepreneurs, policy makers, activists, home makers, media representatives, athletes and retired citizen participated to make change happen and pledged their support to clean the Yamuna. The Yamuna Clean-up was an effective way to create awareness among the citizens not to pollute the rivers and to reduce its abuse further. In the afternoon, Swarathma, Tritha and Mame Khan musical groups presented their performance in support of the event. The trio not only promoted volunteerism as a concept, but also helped people realize that volunteerism is fun too.

The event came to an end with the thanks giving by the anchor of the musical groups for making the event inspiring and successful.
