IUCEE in collaboration with SPEED, a global student organization has developed a platform for students to exploit their innovativeness by ingraining in them skills, knowledge and creative ideas. The objective is to create global engineers to tackle and resolve issues of national and international nature. To achieve this objective, “SPEED-IUCEE Student Workshop” has been planned in the domain of “Creativity and Innovation in Engineering Education”.
The SPEED-IUCEE workshop was organized at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida during17th - 19th September, 2014 wherein 56 studentsparticipated different colleges. These were:
1. Chitkara University, Rajasthan
2. Anurag Group of Institutes, Telengana
3. Amity University, Manesar
4. Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon
5. Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida
The event started on 17th September, 2014 at 9:00 A.M. with inauguration ceremony. The Resource persons from SPEED-IUCEE were Mr. Rohit Kandakatla, President SPEED India, Mr. Shivay Negi, Internal Affairs Officer – SPEED India and Mr. Vinesh Raja, External Affair Officer – SPEED India.Prof TPN Singh, Advisor (R&D) and convener of the program welcomed the guests and explained the objectives of the workshop to the students and emphasized on the wonders of technology and diffusive innovation taking place all over the world. Every student should vie to be a part of the present day technology explosion. Young persons of all ages are the architect of path-breaking innovations worth emulating. Dr. M. S. Murali, Directorgreeted the resource persons and exhorted the students to participate in the workshop in full measure so as to draw maximum leverage.
The students were asked to interact with each other and get familiarized. Rohit and team focused on simple but path breaking innovations and gave the following three topics for discussions and preparations of action plans by students:
1. Solar energy
2. Purified water for consumption
3. Infrastructure
These areas of concern were explained in detail and students were asked to pitch in their ideas.
Thereafter, teams were formed for the subject themes. The students as per the team went for brain storming session to develop the action plans.
On 19th September, 2014 student teams delivered presentations of their action plans. These were:
1. Solar energy- efficient & economic
2. How to improve urban infrastructure
3. Innovative pipes
4. Gear up to save future use solar
5. Restore and improve urban infrastructure
6. Optimus water purifier
7. Enlighting home at cheaper rate
8. Traffic management with motion sensors
9. Access to clean water
10. Urban solar township
The students rendered their presentations very enthusiastically and were appreciated by the resource persons. Dr. M. S. Murali, Director, Prof B. L. Kaul, Registrar andProf TPN Singh; Advisor (R&D)attended the presentations. These presentations were recorded and would be evaluated by SPEED-IUCEE experts at a National Level. The selected teams would be further be called upon for participation at National and International level. The students are expected to implement their action plans at college level and relay the progress to SPEED-IUCEE who shall be continuously evaluating their work.
Certificate distribution was organized at 1.30 P.M. wherein Director, Advisor (R&D) and Team Leader Mr. Rohit Kandalkatla distributed the certificates. The Director thanked the members from SPEED-IUCEE Team for their conduct of workshop and wished them the very best for their upcoming events.
Vote of thanks was given by Prof. TPN Singh and the workshop came to a close at 1.30 P.M. on 19th September, 2014 as per plan.
There was a photo session and the organizers thanked all the participants for their active and passionate involvement.
