Software Process and Management - Software Engineering

 

24th, 25th & 27th January 2017

   

QEEE session on “Software Process and Management - Software Engineering” was organized by IIT, Madrasunder D2S (Direct to Student) Program at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida through ICT on 24th, 25th & 27th January 2017. The session was conducted by Prof. Rajib Mall, IIT Madras. Ms. Shalini Sharma, and Ms. Preeti Chawlacoordinated the session at DGI, Greater Noida. 26 Students from B. Tech (CSE/IT) attended the session.

 

Day 1: 24th January 2017
Prof. Rajib Mall started the session with the lecture on Life Cycle Models and explained its need and usage. He further explained the Build & Think Model, Exploratory Model and Entry & Exit criteria of models. Students also learned about the traditional models including Waterfall, V Model, Prototyping, Spiral Model, Agile Model and their identifiable stages. The session concluded with students’ queries. 

 

Day 2: 25th January 2017
Prof. Rajib Mall began the session with a brief revision of Session-1. He then addressed the software engineering concepts i.e. Skolemization, Unification, Deductive Retrieval, Forward Chaining and Backward Chaining. He also discussed the over and under estimation laws like Parkinson Law & Weinberg’s Zeroth Law Of Reliability of project. He also explained about the table of Estimated Parameters of Project.

 

Day 3: 27th January 2017

Prof. Rajib Mall began the final session a brief revision of first two sessions. He then explained the process of Lines of Code, major shortcomings of SLOC and different expert Judgment - based Techniques. He also discussed the Types of Estimation Techniques like Top Down & Bottom Up Estimation and the COCOMO Mode & Models. He further explained the topic by citing examples. Other topics such as the Effort Equation & Validity of The Resolution Rule, the Staffing Requirementswere also covered during the session.
