Workshop on Network Simulator (NS2)

 

SRM University, Delhi-NCR CAMPUS

 

December 29th - 30th, 2014

   

SRM University Delhi-NCR Campus, Modinagar, Ghaziabad organized a Two Days National Workshop on Network Simulator (NS2) in association with Computer Society of India (CSI) on December 29th and 30th, 2014. The objective of the workshop was to enhance knowledge and skill of the participants regarding use of Network Simulator in an effective way. Faculty members from various Educational Institutions across the nation participated in the workshop.

 

Mr. Manoj Kumar Yadav, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering from Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida attended the workshop as a delegate.

 

The event was flanked by Prof. Manoj Kumar Pandey (Director of SRM University), Ashish Joshi, Assistant Professor, GGSIPU, Delhi, Manish Kumar, Assistant Professor, BVCE, Delhi, Mr. Manas Gaur, TRF (DTU, Delhi) and CIRG, DRDO. The conference was inaugurated with the lighting of lamp followed by bouquet presentation.

 

The event began with the inaugural speech by Prof . Manoj Kumar Pandey. Prof. Pandey emphasized on the need to make the students industry ready and to compete at par with the students from other countries on a global scale.

 

Proceedings on 29-12-2014
The session was conducted by Mr. Ashish Joshi who presented a brief description of the various technologies being offered by Network Software Companies in the Network Simulation area. Mr. Joshi discussed about TCL script and introduction on Bonn Motion, X Graph, Traffic Generation and Network Scenario and AWK Scripts for data extraction. Mr. Joshi also explained about the Basics Introduction on Network Simulator-2, Installation procedure of Network Simulator and Explanation of Mobile Ad-Hoc Network Protocols.

 

Proceedings on 30-12-2014
The first technical session began by Mr. Manish Kumar who presented Installation and Execution procedure on various platform. Mr. Manish explained one TCL script and executed that script through NS2 Simulator. In the post lunch session, Mr. Manas Gaur presented Generation scenario using Bonn Motion and using TCL script and performing it on network animator. He also explained how to retrieve the useful data from the trace file using AWK.

 

Mr. Gaur also presented the execution of AODB, DSDV and DSR protocols in various mobility. At the end of the session participants discussed their queries which were wisely answered by the resource persons. Prof. Rajendra Prasad Mahapatra, HOD of CSE SRM University rendered Vote of Thanks.

 

The event came to end with the distribution of Certificates.
