Workshop on iOS University Developer Program

07th November, 2014

Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized a Workshop on iOS University Developer Program on 07th November 2014. Mr. Anurag Sharma and Ms. Sonika Sharma from Business Development Education, Young Minds Pvt. Ltd., were the resource persons. The students of CSE, ECE and EEE branches attended the workshop.

The objective of the workshop was to create awareness among the students about the latest knowledge in the field of Information Technology. The event began with the floral welcome of the experts by Prof. (Dr.) M S Murali, Director, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida.

Mr. Anurag Sharma began the session by giving an overview about the basics of Apple iOS. He informed that iOS (previously iPhone OS) is a mobile operating system developed by Apple Inc. and distributed exclusively for Apple hardware. It is the operating system that powers many of the company's iDevices.

Ms. Sonika Sharma discussed the major versions of iOS that are released annually. The current device iOS 8.1.2, was released on December 9th, 2014.

In his second session, Mr. Anurag Sharma explained the four abstraction layers: the Core OS layer, the Core Services layer, the Media layer, and the Cocoa Touch layer. He discussed the current version of the operating system (iOS 8.0) which dedicates 1.3 - 1.5GB of the device's flash memory for the system partition, using roughly 800 MB of that partition (varying by model) for iOS itself. It runs on the iPhone 4S and later, iPad 2 and later, all models of the iPad Mini, and the 5th-generation iPod Touch.

The session was interactive. The queries of the participants were answered by the experts.

Prof. (Dr.) M S Murali, Director presented the mementoes to Anurag Sharma and Sonika Sharma.

The program came to an end with the Vote of Thanks by Dr. Abhishek Swami, HOD, Department of Applied Sciences.
