International conference on “3rd Invest North 2014 ” conducted by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on July 24th and 25th, 2014 was an absolute conclave to showcase investment opportunities in Northern states of India. This conference provided platform for interaction of industrialists with the Government representatives. 300 Delegates across the globe participated in this grand event. Spokespersons representing nine countries and six northern states along with the promising entrepreneurs of the country took part. Faculty members Mr. C. Ganesh, Mr. Ankush Yadav and Mr. Midhun Chithambaran from Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida participated in this event. |

DAY 1 (24th July, 2014)
The Curtain was raised by Mr. Shreekant Somany, Deputy Chairman, CII Northern Region. It is followed by special address from Mr. Prem Narain, Secretary, Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, Govt. of India. He gave a brief about the benefits of investing in North India. He shed the lights on liberalized Govt. policies for the exponential growth of business and investments. He wrapped up with the statement “It’s not just the matter of money but a trade of technologies, experience and ideas”. |

Representative of Government from Northern states, Haryana and Rajasthan gave presentations on specific projects for which investment is sought. They were promoting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) with equal importance. They introduce a single window operational mode for the ease of investment and establishing the business successfully in their lands. Mr. Adesh Gupta, CEO, Liberty Shoes Ltd. shared his successful and inspiring experience of his firm with the state, and assured the investors a smooth operation of business as promised by the Government of Haryana. Later, Mr. Ashok Taneja, MD & CEO, Shriram Pistons and Rings Ltd., shared his success story in Rajasthan and also praised the efficiency of and the aid provided by the Government of Rajasthan. |

Networking Lunch turned out to be interactive. Faculty members got a chance to interact with Government officers, In-charge of Industrial Clusters and Entrepreneurs. Thereafter two other states of Northern India, Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand came up with opportunities and the advantages of investing and expanding the business in their provinces. Uttrakhand though formed very recently, has promising projects and attracted the attention of gathering. Mr. Sanjeev Sharan, Principal Secretary Infrastructure and Industrial Development, of Uttar Pradesh showcased the huge investment potential and the related upcoming job opportunities in Uttar Pradesh. Mr. Jayanth Krishna, Regional Head, TCS was privileged to share his experience before the Industrial leaders. |

A panel discussion comprising of Government officials and industrial delegates, made an open discussion on “Challenges of doing Business with a focus on reviving Manufacturing”. The day concluded with a wrap up speech from Mr. Richard Rekhy. |

DAY 2 (25th July, 2014)
The day started with presentations by Delhi and Punjab State government representatives. They discussed about pollution free projects and emphasized on renewable energy. The advantages that these two states have got over other investment destinations were also a matter of discussion. Industrialists also shared about their good time and relation with these states. Mr. Malvinder Mohan Singh, Chairman – Invest North 2014 and Executive Chairman – Fortis Healthcare Ltd said that around 120 one to one B2G meetings have been tied up during the two days which itself speaks volumes about the scale of this initiative. Also he added “Discussions held with State Governments during previous editions of the event has led to framing of new investor friendly industrial policies as well as to certain investment facilitative amendments in the existing policies”. A panel discussion on Global Engagements for growth was conducted in which delegates from different nations expressed their interest in setting up business in India. |

Mr. Jayant Davar, Co-Chairman, Invest North 2014 & Co-Chairman, Managing Director, Sandhar Technologies Ltd. in his concluding remarks opined that the two day conclave would provided an ideal platform for both investors and State Governments to understand and showcase the investment potential available in the region. The program featured participation by Governments of Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh and over 300 investors. Mr. Davar thanked the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotions and Overseas Indian Facilitation Centre to associate and support as Partner Ministry and Institutional Partner respectively |

The two day event was informative and it provided exposure to the opportunities that are up for grab for enthusiastic and potential entrepreneur. This event provided platform for the raw aspiring mind to become a successful entrepreneur. It opened up opportunities to the students to polish their practical skills by coordinating with CII team. It has visualized the numerous job openings that will be available in Northern India because of current and upcoming huge investment projects. It opened the channel before students who love to be In R&D and to get their creative ideas materialized. |

This event eventually helped aspiring entrepreneurs’ clear understanding of the current scenario of the industrial world. This event has capitalized the investment opportunities available in North India for aspiring businessman as well. |
