SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN

“Cleanliness is next to Godliness” is an irrefutable statement made by Mahatma Gandhi decades ago and is relevant even today in contemporary India. The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan launched by the Indian Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi is a step in the right direction at the right time and an apt tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary.

Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida celebrated the Spirit of Nationalism on 2nd October, 2014 to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. The celebration commenced with a floral tribute to the great leaders by the students and the staff of the institute. Dr. (Prof) M. S. Murali, Director, DGI quoted inspirational and motivational stories from the lives of both leaders in his address on the event and urged the students to imbibe their teachings in life. His speech was followed by an emotionally moving message by Prof. Ashwani Kumar, Academic Administrator DGI on the importance of learning from our personal leaders, the first teachers in our lives, our parents.

Dr. Abhishek Swami, HOD-APS spoke at length about the conservation of environment and the simple steps which can be taken by individuals to contribute their bit. Prof. Vinod Kumar, HOD-ECE shared interesting details about the clarion call that has been given by PM Modi to Clean up India, and maintained that this surely cannot be an incident or an event, it has to be an ongoing process, and a national habit.

The speeches were followed by a poem on humanity recited by Dr. Shilpi Saxena and a patriotic video clip on Mahatma Gandhi shared by Dr. Ritu Soryan.
