Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida in association with Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and Dr. Reddy’s Foundation for Health Education organized a Health Awareness Session on "Diabetes and its Complications” in the college campus under the banner of DGI SMILE Club on 8th July, 2014. The objective of the event was to increase knowledge and awareness about diabetic epidemic.
In the morning between 11:00 AM - 12:00 AM a ‘Free Screening Camp’ was conducted. The staff members got their blood check-up done for blood sugar level.
Dr. Keshav Kumar Singh, Senior Diabetologists and Endocrinologist, Kailash Hospital and Research Centre, Noida conducted the awareness session. The event began with the floral welcome of Dr. Singh by Prof. M.S. Murali Director, DGI Greater Noida.
Dr. Singh began his session by showing videos with shocking information regarding Diabetes and presented the most recent national and international surveys. He pointed out that India stands second in diabetes prevalence in the world. Diabetes is one of the major causes of premature illness and death.
He discussed the serious consequences of disease if it is not treated properly and timely. He said that it is preventable by changing diet and improving physical activity.
The session ended with the interactive session. Dr. Singh answered the questions raised by the audience regarding symptoms of Diabetes.
Dr. Singh was presented with a memento by Director DGI, GN for his valuable contribution in conducting the awareness session.
