Microsoft Technology Enriched Instruction Workshop

A one day Faculty Development Workshop on Microsoft Technology Enriched Instruction was organized by Microsoft on 17th November, 2014 at G. D. Goenka University, Gurgaon. Ms. Nidhi Gaur - Dept. of Electrical & Electronics Engineering from Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida attended the workshop.

 

The purpose of this workshop was to create awareness of the benefits of technology integrated into instruction and the breadth of technology available. It was also to increase enthusiasm among teachers for investigating and increasing their appropriate use of technology in their own classrooms.

 

The session was inaugurated by Dr. Raj Singh, Professor and Vice Chancellor of G. D. Goenka University. The first speaker of the workshop was Jonathan Cohen, an Assistant Professor in the Learning Technologies Division at Georgia State University’s College of Education. In his speech, he explored how technology could be used to transform student’s learning in elementary and secondary classrooms. He has taken his research into a variety of content domains, and with technologies as diverse as neural networks and 3-D printing.

 

The second speaker of the workshop was Robin Angotti an Associate Professor of Mathematics Education at the University of Washington Bothell. She has a PhD in Mathematics Education from NC State University with a minor in Statistics. She focused on Technology Enriched Instruction. She discussed in detail the importance of the Tools for collaboration (Yammer and Padlet ), Changing conditions of teaching and learning, New skills, tools, 21st Century Learning Design (21CLD), and Introduction to TPACK and TPACK game.

 

The third speaker was Mr. Punya Mishra Professor of Educational Psychology and Educational Technology at College of Education at Michigan State University. He discussed the Technological, Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) which is a framework to understand and describe the kinds of knowledge needed by a teacher for effective pedagogical practice in a technology enhanced learning environment.
