The Google Student Ambassador Summit for the session 2014-15 was organized by Google at the Infosys Campus, Pune. The focus was at bringing theGoogle Student Ambassadors, Google developer’s Group and Google Business Groupfor effective communication and camaraderie. The group was directed to carry out several activities in the campus that would act as a liaison between Google and the college students.
Aatmika Shree,Student of V Sem, Computer Science & Engineering Branch, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida, who has been selected as Google Student Ambassador for 2014-15 attended the program.
The event provided the students access to cutting edge technology and innovations and an opportunity to develop their ideas into real time projects. This year the Summit focused on Android Application development, Cloud Computingand Digital Marketing.
The summit was a four day event that started off with an introductory session about the summit details and plans for future. The summit was addressed by Bani Dhawan Country Head (EDU outreach Programs) at Google India Pvt. Ltd. Next was a keynote on 10x thinking strategy that focused on the need of developing the skills required to develop a strong internet economy addressed byWilliam Florance. The session also emphasized on the importance of online certifications and internship opportunities addressed by Rahul Kulkarni .
Several Ex-GSA’s and members of GDG’s and GBG’s shared their success stories. Rajan Anandan, Vice President of Google India Pvt. Ltd emphasized the need of developing skill sets and the strategies which the company requires for developing products and services . A session on how to become a part of the Google Top Contributor Program was addressed by Jade Bessiere. This was followed by a brain storming session on Design Thinking. Carson Page organized a competition that focused on development of ideas into projects and real time models.
A session on development of android and mobile phone applications was addressed by Soham Mondal which required the students to design applications on spot and upload them on Google Play store. Further there was a brief session on the need to develop cloud application and the future of cloud computing which was addressed by Patrick Martinent.
There was a session on the need of Digital marketing addressed by Aida Martinez. There were several question and answer rounds addressed by Deepak Sridhar that focused on clarifying doubts and queries. The session was hosted by one of the best anchor’s Kenny Sebastian who acted as an Energizer to the session. Besides the students also got an opportunity to experience several Google technologies like Google Glass etc.
A dinner night was organized at Marriott Hotel which was full of fun and revelry. Later each team had their individual presentations on their projects. The session ended by a message and vote of thanks addressed by Deepak Sridhar and William Florance.
The event was highly successful as it equipped the participants with the greater sense of organizational culture and the strategies through which the GSA’s can help college students connect with Google.
