Department of Science & Technology - Lockheed Martin India Innovation Growth Programme (IIGP) 2014

DST - Lockheed Martin India Innovation Growth Programme 2014, a joint initiative of the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India; Lockheed Martin Corporation; Indo-US Science and Technology Forum, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry; Stanford Graduate School of Business and the IC2 Institute was held at FICCI Federation House, New Delhi on 21st January, 2014.

 

Mr. Pradeep Singla, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineeringattended the programme from Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida. The Main objective of the programme was:

1. Assist Indian innovators accelerate their technologies into the global market place

2. Help innovators assess the right scientific and commercial value of their innovation

3. Get the right product to the right market with the right partner at the right time.

 

This India Innovation Growth Program which was organized to make aware Indian innovators, researchers, scientist & academicians about different government agencies who provide funding and promoting and helping the innovative projects for their commercialization and business developments.

 

The programme started at 11:00 AM. at FICCI. It was attended by 150 delegates from various institutes, industries and NGO sectors.

 

The event started with the presentation on the India Innovation Growth Programme by FICCI. FICCI introduce the programme selection process for the innovation Projects. They have divided the entire process in two phases. In the first phase of the programme, FICCI project team will select 100 innovative technologies from a wide range of sectors such as aeronautics, agriculture, biotechnology, chemistry, communications, computing, defense, electronics, environment, healthcare, information technology, manufacturing, materials, life sciences, nanotechnology, petrochemical semiconductors and transportation. Then during the second screening phase of the programme, the selected 50 among the 100 innovators will be given one week advanced training. Then at the end of the competition, 30 best innovations will be awarded.

 
 

After introductory section by FICCI, a brief introduction on Intellectual Property Right was discussed by Mr. Sujeet Thakur, IP lawyer & Partner, Jupiter Law Partner. Mr. Thakur explained the different routes of filing for patent application in India and abroad. He also discussed how to obtain the IP protection and effective patent.

At 1:00 PM. the programme came to an end with the successful case study from IIGP by Mr. Akash Sinha, winner of FICCI award and Co-founder of Omni Robotics. He asserted that credibility, finance, mentoring and guidance are essential to connect the innovators with industry to turn their ideas into commercial ventures.
