Visit to Moon Beverages Ltd.

 

Sahibabad, Ghaziabad

First Year students of CSE, ECE, EEE of  Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida went for an Industrial Visit to MOON Beverages Limited, Ghaziabadon 11th October, 2014.

 

Ms. Rashmi,Assistant Professor, Dept. of APS and Mr. Pawan Sharma, Assistant Professor, Dept. of APS escorted the students for the industrial visit. The objective of the visit was to enhance technical and practical knowledge about the manufacturing and production of cola products (Beverages), bottles, canes, etc.

 

The visit started with the introduction to MOON BEVERAGES LIMITED, a manufacturing unit of Coke range of products (Thums up, Maaza, Limca etc.) by General Manager of Quality, Mr. Samarendra Dass. He discussed the details of cola products starting with the history; the present scenario of growing and flourishing industry and their influence over the market. Further he shared  the success and the growth of the flourishing MOON Beverages Limited, industry starting the journey from a simple glass bottle to the new as well as stylish world of cola canes, bottles and discussed the transitions, the hurdles and the controversies they encountered.

 

The main attraction of the visit was the 50 minutes video shown to the students to give an insight of the functioning of the plant and the implementation of giant and the robust machinery and robots. It talked about the physics behind the manufacturing of bottles like injection molding etc., the detailing of the chemical composition as well as the importance of the label attached with the bottle. The session was interactive and some gifts (prizes) were distributed among the active and interactive students.

 

Later on, the students were divided into seven small groups and each group was headed by an Environment Coordinator who took them to a tour to the world of cola products manufacturing and allowed them to view closely the entire procedure.

 

Main highlights:

 

1- Filtrations of water: Various methods were used for the filtrations of water. The experts discussed in full detail about the techniques involved (RO, Uv, varying size filter, etc.)

2- Production of beverages: Mixing of flavor and sweetener.

3- Mixing of  CO2

4- Packing and sealing labeling of bottle

5- Selection of the bottles

6- Storing temperature and condition.

7- Cleaning and recycling of the used glass bottles: The experts discussed the seven chamber cleaning process.

8- Use of preservatives

 

 

Mr. Samarendra Dass explained and showcased the functioning of the cola plants, and every aspect of their products, which are the vital organ of the plant.

 

The visit concluded with the question answer session where he cleared the doubts about cola products, their negative popularity in media.

 

The tour was of about three and half hours but the knowledge and the experience the students gained would remain with them forever.
