National Seminar on Issue of Corruption in Society and Literature

Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut in association with College English Teacher Association (CETA) organized Two Days National Seminar on ‘Issue of Corruption in Society and Literature’ during 15th - 16th February, 2014 at Ginni Devi Modi Girls (P.G.) College, Modi Nagar. The objective of the seminar was to raise the issue of corruption with the help of modern fiction such as The White Tiger by Arvind Adiga and Revolution 20-20 by Chetan Bhagat etc.
The seminar was chaired by Dr. Vikas Sharma, Secretary – CETA, Head of the Department of English, D.A.V. College, Bulandshahar and Dr. Aruna Sharma, Director, Women’s Studies Centre Ginni Devi Girls P.G. College, Modinagar.
Dr. Shilpi Saxena, Associate Professor, Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida presented her paper entitled ‘Paralyzed and Polluted Indian politics in Indian Society and Literature’.
In her presentation she discussed paralyzed Indian politics with pathetic ideologies and peculiar promises. She also highlighted dilemma of Indian voters, pre- election advertisement and churning process after election. She presented an unbiased discussion and brought the real picture, deeper insights and perspectives of Indian politics.
It was a commendable initiative in the process of strengthening Indian democracy. The topic of the seminar was relevant as it was the subject of debate and speculation in present context.
The seminar ended with the distribution of certificates to the participants and Vote of Thanks by Dr. Aruna Sharma.
