NSS ORIENTATION PROGRAM

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Orientation Program was organized on 11th October, 2014 at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida.It aimed at developing student's personality through community service.

NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at +2 level working for a campus-community linkage. The cardinal principle of the NSS programme is, that it is organized by the students themselves and both students and teachers through their combined participation in community service, get a sense of involvement in the tasks of nation building.

Dr. G . K. Tuteja, Deputy Program Advisor, Regional Centre, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, New Delhi graced the occasion as a Chief Guest. The inaugural event was also dignified by the presence of Dr. (Prof) B. M. K. Prasad, Director, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon, Prof.(Dr.) M.S. Murali , Director, DGI, Greater Noida, Prof. B .L. Kaul, Registrar, DGI, Greater Noida.

The objective of this program was to make students as well as the faculty members aware of the philosophy of NSS. The focus was on making education more relevant in the present situation to meet the felt needs of the community and supplement the education of the college students by bringing them face to face with the bare rural situations.

The orientation program started with the welcome address by Dr. M. S. Murali.He urged the students to focus on honesty, punctuality and dedication in social services. He also shared his thoughts on the encouragement of young volunteers to participate enthusiastically in the process of national development and promote national integration through corporate living and cooperative action.

Dr. G. K. Tuteja, enlightened the student volunteers to the broad objectives of Na+the youth in nation building. He also highlighted the importance of activity planning and shared that a dedicated and devoted Programme Officer can plan, execute and evaluate the NSS activities in a proper perspective, and overcome the hurdles in the way of social service. He also imparted information on administrative and organizational structure of NSS and stated the relevance of human rights to NSS Volunteers.

The NSS volunteers of Dronacharya Group of Institution then pledged an oath to the cause of serving the society with sincerity and dedication followed by National Anthem. The program came to an end with the presentation of memento to the Chief Guest as a token of reverence.
