OTN DEVELOPER DAY

Oracle Corporation organized a one day OTN Developer Day for Database 12c workshop on 21st November, 2013 at Eros Hilton, Nehru Place, New Delhi.

A total of 250 participants from academia and corporate sector attended this event. Mr. Divyanshu Sinha, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida was delegated to attend this workshop. It was an ideal opportunity for networking with peers and Oracle experts while at the same time learn about Oracle latest Database release. This workshop introduced all the participants to the new and improved features of Database 12c that have a direct impact on application development, performance improvements and simplified development.

The event started with the first session of the day being presented by Mr. Sundar Ram, Vice President Technology Sales Consulting, Oracle India who was one of the keynote speakers for this event. He gave an overview of the Oracle Database 12c which included Private Database Cloud Architecture and explained in detail about the new multitenant architecture of Oracle Database 12c and how it will help to optimize and enhance business applications in one go. He also elaborated on the Automatic Data Optimization technique and how this will automatically tier data to lower cost storage.

The second session was presided by Mr. Ram Purohit, Director, ITech, India who explained the rich and powerful development environment in 12c.He also demonstrated 12c’s capability to provide temporal support, improved pattern matching and how Oracle Database 12c continues to improve on the developer’s experience by providing improved tools and APIs.

The last session of the day was a hands on lab session based on how to Upgrade, Migrate and Consolidate to Oracle Database 12c by Mr. AgrimPandit, Global Customer Service Team, Oracle India. This session focused on the following:-

1. Managing pluggable databases in Oracle SQL Developer.

2. Managing data reduction in Oracle SQL Developer.

3. Monitoring and optimizing database performance with Oracle Enterprise Manager.

The event came to a close with presentation of small souvenirs by representatives of Oracle to all the participants.
