The event started with the lamp lighting ceremony by Prof. B.K.Das, Dean, RDIL, Prof. Prabha Sharma, Dr. Deepti Gaur and invited speaker Dr. Anjana Gosain, Professor, University School of Information and Communication Technology, GGSIP University, New Delhi.

An audio video illustrations were shown to the participants so as to demonstrate applications of lean management system to solve various industrial problems.

This programme was intended to provide opportunity for researchers, faculty and students to upgrade their knowledge in the areas of data mining and data warehousing at undergraduate/graduate level. The program provided a basic platform for both students and faculty who were willing to carry out research in data mining and data warehousing.

In first Session Dr. Gosain covered these following topics:-
1. Introduction to Big data.
2. Introduction to data warehouse.
3. Data warehouse development life cycle.
4. Multidimensional modeling Data cubes and OLAP.

She explained the fundamental concepts of Data Mining and Data ware housing and their application with Rapid Miner and data mining tool. She said  Data is  the information that has been translated into a form that is more convenient to move or process. She explained all dimensions of Bigdata and life cycle of Data warehouse with Multidimensional modeling Data cubes and OLAP.

In second session Dr. Deepti Gaur explained the introduction to the RapidMiner software  and Pre-processing, Classification and Clustering using Rapid Miner. She said that RapidMiner is a tool that helps to find the best combination of pre-processing and learning steps to work on a dataset. It also serves as a stand-alone application for data analysis and as a data mining solution for researchers and companies. She shared information regarding need of managing Big Data which is emerging as a new challenge in almost every industry.

Session was a practice session on RapidMiner. Dr. Deepti  provided hands-on experience on Rapid Miner tool and the possible ways to interpret the results obtained from the data mining solution. Rapid Miner helps to find the best combination of pre-processing and learning steps to work on a dataset.
