International Conference on Recent Trends in Physics

Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore

February 22nd- 23rd, 2014

An ‘International Conference on Recent Trends In Physics’ was organized by School of Physics, Devi AhilyaVishwavidhyalaya, Indore during 22nd - 23rd February, 2014 in the School of Computer Science building. Dr. Arindam Ghosh, Assistant Professor, Applied Science & Humanities, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida was invited there to present his paper entitled ‘SHI Induced LPG sensing properties of Nanocrystalline Cu doped ZnO thin film’ on 22nd February, 2014. The conference was inaugurated by Dr. V. Ganesan , Centre Director, UGC DAE CSR Indore at 9:30 AM in the presence of Guest of Honors Dr. F. Renz and Dr. Ajay Gupta. The Chairperson of the conference were Prof. Dr. A. Mishra and Prof. Dr. S.N.Kane and Patron Prof. Dr. D.P.Singh, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, D.A.V.V. Indore.

Dr. F. Renz, is a renowned scientist in Institute fur Anorganische, Germany. In his inaugural speech entitled ‘Recent progress in iron-containing compounds with light switching effects: from visible to X-rays’, he represented the remarkable dynamic phenomenon in molecular iron (II) by hard X-ray induced thermal hysteresis (HAXITH).

Dr. J.P. Araujao delivered a talk on Bottom up nano fabrication using self - organized porus templates. His group have implemented the fabrication of nanoporous templates by anodic oxidation of Al, Ti, Fe and Hf metal substrates. In his talk he tried to emphasiz the implementation and improvement of the deposition parameters. He also discussed about the size dependent biotechnological applications.

Prof. Dr. Ajay Gupta, former Center Director of UGC DAE CSR, Indore delivered his speech on Stresses in thin film and multilayers. In his talk he emphasized that stresses may significantly affect the functional properties as well as the thermodynamics of the thin film multilayer.

The other prominent entrepreneurs Dr. V. Ganesan, Dr. D.M. Phase, Dr. Fouran Singh, Dr. B.D. Shrivastava, Dr. Mukul Gupta and many more erudite scholars from various research organizations participated in the conference. The bench mark of the conference was the interactive session between the research personalities and the emerging students which helped the students in order to enhance their knowledge and encourage them to proceed in the field of research.

Dr. Arindam Ghosh’s research paper entitled ‘SHI induced LPG sensing properties of nanocrystaline Cu doped ZnO thin film’ tried to explain the effect of post deposition technique say, swift heavy ion irradiation (SHI) by 120 MeV Au9+ ions into the chemically grown Cu doped Zinc oxide thin film on the LPG gas sensing properties. This paper was appreciated by the judging committee.
