SAEINDIA FOUNDATION ANNUAL AWARDS FUNCTION

The Second Annual Awards Function of Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) INDIA Foundation was held on 30th July, 2014 at Silver Oak, India Habitat Center, New Delhi. The awards were given to recognize young talents across the country, to honor Gurus and Mentors for their contribution to mobility community at large and motivate the young Women Engineers. The Special Guest for the event was Mr. Dan Hancock, President, SAE International and the Guest of Honor for the evening was Mr. Vikram S Kirloskar, President, SIAM.

Two SAEINDIA Faculty Advisors Mr. Midhun Chithambaran and Mr. Mayank Srivastava, Department of  Mechanical Engineering, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida attended the award ceremony.

The President and Members of managing committee of SAEINDIA and the entire fraternity extend a hearty welcome to Mr. & Mrs. Daniel Hancock, on their visit to India. This occasion was also used to unleash the SAEINDIA Newsletter “SAMPARK”for the very first time.

Mr. R. Dayal, President, SAEINDIA Foundation welcomed the guests and briefed the audience about the activities and achievements of the foundation. More than 100 invitees and guests from Corporate and Academia attended the Second Annual Awards Function of SAEINDIA Foundation.

To recognize the talent of Young Women Engineers, who have contributed, to the mobility community in India, Kalpana Chawla Awards are given every year.Besides SAEINDIA Student of the Year Award, University Professors (SAEINDIA - GURU Awards), Working Professionals (SAEINDIA Engineer of the Year Award), Section Volunteers (SAEINDIA - Champions Award) and Individuals (Life Time Achievement Award) were also given.

Mr. Vikram S Kirloskar in his speech, opined that there should exist, a better interface between educational institutes and industry. He gave a brief mention about the difference between the market conditions from a decade ago and now. He also urged SAEINDIA to focus on how to improve the quality of education, teaching and infrastructure in our country.

Mr. MurliIyer representing SAE International spoke about partnering of Industry, Academics and SAE to help the mobility community in India. He appealed to the corporate sector to help and support SAEINDIA Foundation through which we can motivate and promote school and college students and young professionals in India, thereby sustaining the mobility community.

In the concluding session, Vote of Thanks was delivered by Mr. I V Rao, Chairman SAE Northern India Section. He summarized the event and thanked the contributors, invitees and the organizing team.

Having time with the active members of SAEINDIA, gave a fresh inspiration and motivation to run the club in a more effective way. Promising and spirited award winners, spread a wave of enthusiasm which is good enough to motivate students to be in their shoes.
