SMILE CLUB VISIT

“Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” : Mother Teresa.

With this sole motto, the members of DGI SMILE (Sharing Moments and Illuminating Lives Everywhere) CLUB visited “Vishwas” a rehabilitation centre for differently able people at Greater Noida on 14th January 2014.

“Vishwas” provides support for mentally and emotionally disturbed person and integrate them with public and society and fulfills the need for psycho-social rehabilitation. It has about twenty people who are struggling to live a normal day-to-day life. They are suffering from Schizophrenia, a kind of mental illness and allied disorders. The inmates were very hospitable and friendly, and welcomed the members of SMILE Club with their beautiful smiles.

The fine fusion of SMILE and “Vishwas” was a humble attempt to offer the inmates an opportunity to mingle with the charm of life, a moment to dream, a moment to believe in themselves and the most important the strength and hope to believe that they can also cherish their dreams.

DGI SMILE Club had a comprehensive program of activities designed for Vishwas inmates to help them overcome their limitations in their personal and social life. The prime concern of DGI SMILE Club volunteers was to involve the inmates in fun based activities like singing, dancing and ball passing games. The volunteers of SMILE Club also presented songs, performed dance and social issues based skit which was appreciated and helped the inmates to invoke the spirit to overcome any gloomy situation in their life.

During the ball passing game, the volunteers distributed Chocolates and Smileys to the inmates. Their favorite chocolates and Smileys energized them to mingle with the students in all their activities.

The tender smile on the wrinkled faces, the spirit to overcome the challenges, love and happiness, the positivity in the atmosphere and the tinkle of hope to see SMILE Club again was the most precious gift that the SMILE Club volunteers got in return.
