Emerging Technologies and Increasing Opportunities and Challenges in Present Educational Scenario

Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized a Workshop on Emerging Technologies and Increasing Opportunities and Challenges in Present Educational Scenario on 1st March, 2014. The objective of the workshop was to provide platform for the academicians, scholars and students to discuss the challenges and opportunities that have arisen on present Educational Landscape with the emerging technologies. The faculty of various colleges of N.C.R. attended the workshop.
Dr. Beena Agarwal, Associate Professor, D.S. Degree College, Aligarh and Dr. Lucky Varshney, H.O.D. Dept. of English, T.R. Girls Degree College, Aligarh were the resource persons for the workshop.
The workshop had two technical sessions that were structured to discuss opportunities and challenges on the landscape of education with the growing technologies. The program began with the lighting of lamp followed by Ganesh Stuti. Prof. M.S. Murali, Director, DGI presented the key note address with the presentation entitled ‘Effective Professional Development for Successful Technology Integration’. In his presentation he discussed the changing and challenging role of teachers in present scenario.
During the first, technical session Dr. Lucky Varshney presented her ideas on English in India: Challenges and Opportunities. Her interactive session made the students to share their shortcomings regarding communication and uniqueness of English language. In her presentation students enjoyed the funny exercises of Tongue Twister actively participated in group activity in which Rikanshi C.S.E. II Sem and Suraj C.S.E. IV Sem got the first and second position.
During the second, technical session Dr. Beena Agarwal discussed about the ‘Challenges in Present Educational System’. She did an in-depth analysis of the challenges in present education and her emotionally charged statements inspired the students.
Prof. Vijaya Rani Sood, H.O.D. Applied Sciences, presented her ideas on ‘Education with and without Technologies’. Her presentation was garnished with social illustrations and real life examples. Prof. G.R. Tyagi, Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering discussed about the Challenges in Higher Education in India. He presented detailed analysis of challenges in curriculum and infrastructure on educational horizon.
At the end students shared their view point on the different issues related to academics.
The workshop equipped the students and faculty members with greater sense of self responsibilities to improve the quality of education.
