Workshop on LabVIEW & NI Hardware Platform

20th February, 2015

Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering of Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized a one day Workshop on LabVIEW & NI Hardware Platform on 20th February, 2015 in the college premises which was conducted by StarCom Information Technology Limited, Bangalore. The objective of the workshop was to provide hands-on training on LabVIEW & NI Hardware platform to 2nd and 3rd year EEE students.

The program began with the floral welcome of resource person Mr. Arpit Porwal, Technical Expert, National Instruments (NI) by the Director, Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Bagga, DGI, Gr. Noida. Prof. Rajiv Ranjan, Head of Department, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, delivered the keynote address and gave a brief of the event.

The event began with the introductory session on LabVIEW, NI Multisim, NI Software platform, NI c-DAQ/NI c-RIO module, Robotics Platform, Machine Vision Platform, Image Processing Platform etc. Each group comprising of two students were given a LabVIEW DVD software to be installed in their machine. The students were supposed to do the programming and simulation of various real time problems under supervision of the expert.

During Post-Lunch Session students learned to interface the hardware with the LabVIEW software. Students used NI cDAQ, a portable and rugged DAQ platform to integrate connectivity and signal conditioning into modular I/O for directly interfacing to any sensor or signal. The breadth of bus, chassis, and I/O conditioning options combined with the customizable nature of LabVIEW software provide the best solution to meet the needs of medium-channel-count application. Application of NI cRIO was also demonstrated to students. National Instruments CompactRIO provides direct hardware access to the input/output circuitry of each I/O module using LabVIEW FPGA elemental I/O functions. The Technical Expert explained the basics of LabVIEW programming for Robotics and motivated the students to formulate their own task to be done by Robot and encrypt the code for the same.

The programme came to an end with the valedictory session graced by the kind presence of Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Bagga, Director, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida and faculty members of EEE Department. Prof. Bagga presented the memento to the resource persons. Prof. Rajiv Ranjan rendered the Vote of Thanks. He thanked the participants for their interest shown in LabVIEW & NI Hardware Platform.

The program was compered by Mr. Aman Kumar and Mr. Ashish Chauhan, students of EEE V semester.
