On 28th September, 2014 to mark the birth anniversary of great martyr Bhagat Singh and to pay tribute to the true sons of mother India SMILE Club volunteers with the coordinator Dr. Shilpi Saxena reached Nalgada.

In Nalgada Gurudwara the club members felt the vibration of patriotism and to touch the preserved rock that freedom fighters used in making bombs was also a heartfelt experience. Bhagat Singh conducted the historic bombing of the historic bombing of the central Legislative Assembly in Delhi on April 8, 1929. He and his supporters had taken refuge in Nalgada while carrying out the bombing.

Saurabh Sharma’s (Civil VII Semester) poem "Ma Rang de vo Mera Basanti Chola" depicted the glorious life and revolutionary ideas of Bhagat Singh mesmerized the villagers and the members of Gurudwara Committee.

SMILE Club members also interacted with Ms. Manjit Kaur, 65, Daughter-in-Law of martyr Karnail Singh, companion of Subhash Chandra Bose who mobilized the people on socio-political issues. She enlightened the volunteers by narrating the incidence related to India’s freedom movement and showed the photographs and letters of freedom fighters.

Motivating incidences, sacrifice made by the freedom fighters, intimacy, love and patriotic spirit of the villagers overwhelmed the club members with emotions and true spirit of nationality. Visit to Nalgada was an exciting experience. It was like a revisiting India’s glorious history.

Bhagat Singh’s ideology motivated the students and they got empowered with the true feelings of nationality. It provided them a unique window to experience the history and to visualize the golden future of the country based on the revolutionary ideals of great freedom fighters.
