PHD CHAMBER organized  3rd International Conferenceon Corporate Social Responsibility – Partnering for a Better India at PHD House, New Delhi on 16th July, 2014. The objective of the event was to build strengthening policies and effective implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Ms. Shivani Arora, Assistant Professor,  Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida attended the event as a delegate.

The event began with the inaugural session followed by welcome address by Mr. Mahesh Gupta, Vice President, PHD CHAMBER. He emphasized on creation of awareness about various aspects with special reference to legality, implementation and thematic areas such as Applicability, CSR Policy and Reporting Programme Sector, Scope for NGO partnership.

Mr. Vinod Bansal, Co-Chairman Task Force on CSR, PHD Chamberin his theme address discussed various actions of CSR with special focus on Section - 135 of the New Companies Act. He gave an in depth understanding of the legal implications of the companies Act 2013 with respect to CSR.

In the first panel the resource person Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak, PadamBhushan, Recipient and Founder, Sulabh Sanitation and Social Reform Movement and Ms. GayatriSubrahayam, Convener & Chief. Program Executives, National Foundation for Corporate Social Responsbility, IICA discussed the Sulabh Approach to restore human dignity to Balmiki’s with five distinct stages:

1- Libration

2- Rehabilitation

3- Vocational Training

4- Proper Education of Next Generation

5- Social Elevation

In the second panel discussion the resource persons Mr. Vijay Ganpati and Sumit Malhotra, Senior Manager Development Advisory Services EYemphasized on Section -135 of New Companies Act mentioned to undertake a mixed spectrum of initiatives such as Promoting Education, Gender Equality, Women Empowerment and Ensuring Environmental Sustainibility.

It was followed by a motivational session chaired by Mr. Anshu Gupta, Founder Goonj Mr. Shekhar Sethu, Deputy Country Director FHI 360 Indiawhich aims to link industries, corporate foundations and NGOs sharing similar interest in a specific domain.

The session concluded with the round table discussion on “How to create opportunities and challenges of Partnership, selection mode of partners and managing effective partnership”.

Mr. Jatinder Singh summed up the session and rendered Vote of Thanks. The conference provided a unique platform for relevant stakeholders in joining hands for understanding CSR projects.
