An industrial visit to ‘Yakult Danone India Pvt. Ltd’, Sonipat, Haryana for first year students was organized on 25th November, 2014 by the Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida. The students of various branches along with Dr. Arindam Ghosh and Mr. Dinesh Kumar, Assistant Professors, Department of APS went for this scientific excursion.

The objective of the visit was to enhance general awareness about the importance of Probiotics and how to make the best use of it.

The visit began with the small introduction to the Yakult. The presentation by the Yakult professional discussed the origin, milestones, journey and the global marketing of the product. He explained that the journey of Yakult Danone Pvt. Ltd began in 1930 with Dr. Minoru Shirota, who conducted research in a microbiological lab at the Medical Faculty of Kyoto in Japan. He was the first person in the world to get success in it. The bacterium was named "Lactobacillus casei Shirota strain".

The Yakult products were distributed amongst the participants. Then the students were directed towards the factory to observe the manufacturing process. The Yakult professionals explained the working procedure of producing the Yakult products.

The involvement and the discussion amongst the Yakult execution and the students signified the great interest of the students in understanding the procedure. The importance of the R & D cell in judging the quality of the product attracted the students. 

The visit came to an end with a group photo session.
