“Social Responsibility in Economic Perspective - A Global Issue”

 

Jaipur, 11th -13th January, 2014

   

S.S. Jain Subodh P.G. College Jaipur organized an International Conference on “Social Responsibility in Economic Perspective -A Global Issue” on 11th -13th January, 2014. The conference was sponsored by University Grant Commission and Indian Council of Social Science Research.

 

The aim of the conference was to examine the dilemmas and challenges faced by different sections of society and to promote social responsibility not as a matter of charity but as the core work of society.

 

The Conference had five Technical Sessions based on different dimensions of social responsibility. The first Technical Session was based on Social Responsibility of Government and the other Technical Sessions highlighted the Social Responsibility of Corporate Sector, Social Responsibility and Corporate Governance, Social Entrepreneurship, Social Accounting,Auditing and Reporting. The session included sub- themes of Human Rights, Labor Rights, Poverty Alleviation, Consumer Protection Socio- Economic Development, Inclusive Growth and Sustainability and other aspects of social responsibility.

 

Dr. Shilpi Saxena, Associate Professor, Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities, Dronacharya Group of Institutions Greater Noida presented her paper entitled ‘Human Rights in Indian Culture and in Indian Society’.

 

In her paper she compared between the rich Indian culture and the brutal realities of present society. She discussed the message of Humanity and Equality that is given by all the religions and the contrasting picture of present social injustice where the concept and ideology of Human Rights seem not to be existing. She also focused on violation of human rights of marginalized sections of society and the role of the movements, campaigns, hunger strikes, Candle marches, and demonstrations to restore Human Rights.

 

The conference successfully as explored globally debatable issues of the present scenario. Academicians, Social Engineers, Industrialists and Members of Government Sectors participated in the conference. It provided a concrete platform for the professionals and academicians of across the world to discuss relevant challenges of global society and their solutions.
