B.Tech I year-ECE & EEE students went for a visit to National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Dadri Plant on 31st August 2013. Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Rani Sood and Dr. Abhishek Swami escorted the students for the trip. The objective of the visit was to enhance technical and practical knowledge of these budding technocrats.

The visit started with the introduction of NTPC Limited, a Nav Ratna Company which is providing light to millions of homes, by a Senior Executive of HR Department Dr. A. K. Dang (AGM) (EDC-Training). He discussed the significance and distinctiveness of Power Plants at Dadri which has the capacity of 1680 MW (Thermal), 1720 MW (Gas) & 5 MW (Solar) respectively.

A video of 15 minutes was shown to the students to give an insight of functioning of the plant. Later on the students were divided into two groups. The executives of the plants explained and showcased the functioning of Cooling Towers, Coal Mills, Feeders, Generators, Turbines and Control Rooms which are the basis of a power plant.

The visit concluded with the innovative suggestions in power sector from budding engineers so that we are able to conserve our natural resources for next generations and light maximum homes.
