Volunteers of the DGI NSS Wing, Greater Noida participated in the run - up to the International Day of Yoga - 2016, a Mini Marathon for Youth titled ‘Yoga Run for Peace & Unity’ on 18th June 2016 at Rajpath, New Delhi. “The event was hosted under the aegis of THE BRAHMKUMARIS, in association with Ministry of AYUSH in conjunction with United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Dr. S. K. Srivastava, Mr. Anoop Kumar, Ms. Shailika Sharma, Mr. Dinesh Kumar, Mr. Anuj Verma, Mr. Sumit Sengar and Mrs. Gurpreet Kaur along with 85 DGI NSS Volunteers participated in the run - up for International Day of Yoga - 2016.

The 6 Kilometer Mini Marathon was flagged off by Iconic Runner Padmashri Hon’ble Milkha Singh from India Gate at 6:00 pm in the presence of Additonal Chief of Brahma Kumaris, Rajyogini Dadi Hirdaya Mohini and Motivational Speaker Sister B. K. Shivani. It passed through Mansingh Road crossing via Rajpath - Rafi Marg, Dr Rajendra Prasad Road, Janpath, Rajpath and culminated at India Gate.

About 6000 participants along with several eminent personalities and participants from various organizations including Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), National Service Scheme (NSS), Bharat Scouts & Guides, Patanjali Yoga Peeth, Youth Wings of Lions Club, Rajyoga Education & Research Foundation (RERF) and the Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya vishwavidyalaya participated in the RUN.

Yoga Run for Peace & Unity successfully came to an end at 19:30Hrs. Certificates and refreshments were given to the participants.
