WIRELESS BROADBAND VISION FORUM
FICCI, FEDERATION HOUSE, NEW DELHI
13TH AUGUST 2015
 

Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in collaboration with Global Wi-Fi Broadband Alliance organized "Wireless Broadband Vision Forum" on 13th August 2015 with a theme 'India, Wi-Fi and Smart City Development' at FICCI, Federation House, New Delhi.

 

Mr. Nitin Kumar, Assistant Professor, Dept. of ECE & Ms. Gargi Amoli, Assistant Professor, Dept. of CSE along with 8 students from branch ECE (Kanupriya Madan, Sachin Kumar Verma, Pankaj Kumar & Anupam Tiwari) & CSE (Deepak Panthri, Rahul Berry, Renuka Kumari & Lalit Kumar Chauhan) of Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida attended the forum.

 

The program started with the inauguration session and address by Mr. Virat Bhatia, Chairman, FICCI. He highlighted that many companies are accepting and adapting broadband according to the communication need in our life. Similarly our cities also have to become smart.

 

Mr. Ashish Khetan, Vice-Chairman of Delhi Dialogue Commission & Mr. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Member of Parliament also said that the government will provide free Wi-Fi in all government and private colleges within one year, as part of the first phase. In second and third phases, public Wi-Fi will be provided in rural areas and unauthorized colonies respectively. The minimum speed of the Wi-Fi that we are proposing is 1 Mbps for good user experience and each user should get 1 GB of downloads for a month free.

 

The second session forum brought global experts Mr. Vijay Sammeeta (CIO) & Mr. Jeong Hyoeng Lee (Korea Telecomm). They had delivered presentations on High Speed Wireless Communication.

 

During the entire event high speed free Wi-Fi internet was provided by Ozone (Wi-Fi service provider). After the seminar, there was a demonstration organized to show speed test for the 3G vs 4G vs Speed Fetch. Speed Fetch is the new 5G-entertainment service. Speed Fetch is a Wi-Fi enabled entertainment platform that will allow customers to download high quality digital content within minutes using a mobile phone or a tablet providing approximately 70-80 Mb/sec of download speed.

 

The event highlighted the government effort in converting major cities of India into smart cities within a few years. The event also presented the latest advancements in the field of wireless communication.
