Symposium on “Exploring the potential of Cloud Services”

6th August, 2015

Computer Society of India (CSI) in association with IEEE DELHI SECTION, IETE DELHI CENTRE and ISTE DELHI SECTION, CISCO, CONVRGD organized Symposium on “Exploring the Potential of Cloud Services” on 6th August 2015 at India International Centre (IIC) New Delhi. Mr. Aadarsh Malviya, Assistant Professor CSE Department of Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida, attended the event as delegates.

The objective of the symposium was to intensify the importance of Cloud Services and Technologies and to provide a platform for researchers and academics for sharing their views on Cloud services, research areas and unbuilt blocks of Cloud Computing. Cloud computing is the practice of using a network of remote servers hosted on the Internet to store, manager and process data rather than a local server or a personal computer.

The inauguration ceremony was conducted in the presence of Prof. Mini S. Thomas (Chairman, IEEE Delhi Section). Other esteemed guests who graced the program were Dr. Gulshan Rai (Director General, CERT - IN and National Cyber Security Advisor Government of India) , Prof. K. K Aggarwal (Former Vice Chancellor GGSIP University, New Delhi), Mr. Rajiv Garg (ED, BHEL), Mr. R.S. Mani (National Knowledge Network of India), Mr. Satish Khosla (Chief Mentor, Cognilytics, Inc) and Mr. Akash Sarf (CEO, CONVRGD).

Prof. Mini S. Thomas in his opening remarks gave brief introduction of CSI and event organized by CSI from time to time. He mentioned “Computer Society for India” (CSI) is one of the largest and professionally managed association of and for IT professionals in India. The wide spectrum of members is committed to the advancement of theory and practice of Computer Engineering and Technology Systems, Science and Engineering, Information Processing and related Arts and Sciences.

Mr. R.S. Mani (National Knowledge Networks, Governments of India) continued the speech on concept of Virtual Labs. Virtual Labs are labs developed by faculties from the top technical institutes of the country, address the issue of lack of good laboratory facilities as well as trained teachers, by making remote and simulation-based experimentation possible through the internet. He pointed out Cloud Computing Services and how these services have affected the virtualization of Technologies. Cloud Computing, also On - Demand Computing, is a kind of Internet - Based Computing that provides shared processing resources and data to computers and other devices on demand. He briefly explained the current level of cloud computing and in future how it is going to affect the corporate world as well as each individual linked to IT Services.

Prof. K.K Aggarwal explained Cloud Computing that it is not merely a technology, rather an approach to building IT services that harnesses the power of servers, as well as virtualization technologies that combine servers into large computing pools and divide single servers into multiple virtual machines. During his lecture, Prof. Aggarwal said that Cloud Computing is seen by many as the next wave of information technology for individuals, companies and governments.

In the end there was interactive question and answers session where the participant raised their doubts about topic and same was clarified by esteem dignitaries. It was a great experience for the participant to know about the benefits of the cloud services majorly utilized by the different companies.
