Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida
IEEE-IITB AAKASH Tablet Application Challenge - 2013
 

Two teams from Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida, Team Hard Targets comprising of Pulkit Narang CSE VIII, Sachin Rai CSE VIII, Hemant Yadav CSE VI and Team Delhi Devils comprising of Pankaj Singh CSE VI,Tarun Sharma CSE VIII, Paras Yadav CSE VIII andVishal Sharma CSE VIII won the First and Third Prizes respectively in the coveted IEEE-IIT-B Aakash Tablet Application Challenge 2013.

 

The first prize winning team made an application “Aptitude Check”, to allow the users take self-paced Aptitude Based tests. The team has won US $2500.

 

The third Prize winning entry was “Learn Periodic Table” targeted to the learning ease of chemistry students. The team has won US $750.

 

The event was a joint effort of the IIT Bombay and IEEE to identify, develop and incubate ideas for mobile apps focused on all levels of education, starting from school education up to the university. The opportunity served as a platform for students to enhance their knowledge, skills and creativity in order to enhance the education.

 

The objectives of the AAKASH Tablet App Challenge were to allow students to:

1. Learn how to apply engineering and business knowledge and expertise in order to develop a useful app and potentially see it employed on the AAKASH Tablet.

2. Gain critical teamwork and multi-disciplinary skill sets that are transferrable to the engineering workplace and provide you with a competitive advantage.

3. Contribute to the educational process by developing an app that benefits current and future students.

4. Receive an IEEE Certificate and earn a chance to win various prizes and awards.

 

The event was opened with an Entry Period of 12 Aug – 31 Oct 2013, followed by a Judging Period 1st Nov – 6th Dec 2013.
