A one week program on Mobile and Distributed System theory and Challenges (MDS -13) was organized by Department of Computer Science & Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh during 2nd - 6th December, 2013. This winter school was sponsored by Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme of Government of India (TEQIP-II). |

Ms. Bhanu Bhardwaj, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida was delegated for the Winter School at NIT, Hamirpur. |

Prof. Rajnish Shrivastava, Director, NIT Hamirpurand Prof. Ajay Sharma, Director, NIT Delhiwith the presence of Head of Department, faculty members and enthusiastic participants graced the inaugural ceremony. Dr. T. P. Sharma, Head – Department of Computer Science & Engineering, NIT, Hamirpur addressed the session with his welcome speech. |

The Winter School focused on the following key points:-
December 2nd , 2013 (Monday)
Inaugural talk on Modern Mobile AdHoc networks/WSNs by Prof. Ajay Sharma, Director, NIT, Delhi.
1. Introduction to Distributed System and Research Issues by Dr. T. P. Sharma, Associate Prof. Head of Department, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, NIT, Hamipur .
2. Mac Layer Issues in Mobile Networks , Routing in AdHoc Networks by Prof. L. K. Awasthi, Principal, Govt. Engineering College Pragtinagar. |

Session concluded with open discussion on various research topics such as AppropriateQoS Model, Traditional Networks, research issues in Vehicular AdHoc network, Energy meter etc. |

December 3rd, 2013 (Tuesday)
1. Data Caching in MANETs by Dr. Narottam Chand, Associate Professor, NIT, Hamirpur.
2. Optical Communication and Research Issues by Dr. Vinod Kapoor, Associate Professor, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering.
3. Communication Protocol: Zigbee and Bluetooth for WSN/MANTs by Dr. Ashok kumar, Associate Professor, NIT, Hamirpur. |

Session concluded with open discussion on various research topic Zigbee techno logy, Network communication protocol issues, Routing protocol in MANNET etc. |

December 4th, 2013 (Wednesday)
1. Lecture on Time Synchronization in WSN by Dr. Sidhartha Chauhan, Associate Professor, Department of CSE, IIT.
2. Embedded Wireless Application and a workshop on GSM/GPRS, Bluetooth kits by Mr. Arvind Dixit, Advance Technology, Chandigarh. He explained about the GSM and Bluetooth Technology and how these technology works and how they are practically implemented.

December 5th, 2013 (Thursday)
1. Lecture on Clustering in WSN byDr. SurinderSoni, Associate Professor, NIT, Hamipur.
2. Workshop on Wireless Sensor Node Kits by Mr.Rahul Sharma Sr. Engineer, Scientek Technologies Pvt. Ltd.
Session concluded with open discussion on various research topic Sensor Node Time Management, Cluster size issues etc. |

December 6th, 2013 (Friday)
1. Lecture on Security Issues in Software Development for Mobile Application by Dr. Manoj Mishra Professor, CSED, IIT Roorkee.
2. Lecture on Distributed Computing in WSN by Dr. (Mrs.) Kamlesh Dutta, Associate Professor, NIT, Hamirpur. She emphasized on Android Mobile Application.
Session Concluded with open discussion various research topic such as Android Mobile Application and Research Issues in Mobile Distribution System, SQL injection, Binary coding XML files etc.

After lunch the valedictory function was organized by the co - ordinators of MDS-13. |
|
Valedictory speech was delivered by Prof. Manoj Mishra, IIT Roorkee and Prof. Rajnish Shrivastava , Director, NIT, Hamirpur. |
|
Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. T. P. Sharma, Head- Department of CSE, NIT, Hamirpur and Mr. Nitin Gupta, MDS-13 coordinator. |

The objective of this program was to make aware the participants of research work in Mobile and Distributed System and Wireless networks, Communication. The program was very much useful to the budding technocrats as they practiced with a number of latest software and fabricated various technical projects as well. |
