A Guest Lecture on “Arduino/Lego Robotics & Quad-Copters” was organized for ECE and EEE students of III and V Semester on 06 Oct 15. It was conducted by TECHNOMENTIS Edu Services Engineers at Dronacharya Group Of Institutions Greater Noida. TECHNOMENTIS is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) initiative by IIT-IIM Alumni. They promote practical learning through Aero-modeling, Robotics, Model Rocketry and STEM Projects.

Ms. Astha Sharma, Founder- Technomentis Edu Services, welcomed all students and gave introduction to Robotics and its importance in future.Thereafter, Mr.Dhananjay Dubey, Chief Trainer gave an overview of the concepts and applications of Robotics. He explained the sensor based robots, concepts and applications of LEGO Robotics and showed a demo of a Sensor based Line follower Robot made with LEGO blocks. In his lecture, he also covered various applications of Robotics in fields like biomedical, industrial, military etc. He further brought out that there is a need of highly skilled manpower in the field of Robotics.

Mr. Varun Sharma introduced Aero-modeling, its scope and applications in which he covered various types of Quadcopters, Multicopters, Drones, Unmanned Arial Vehicles (UAVs) etc. He also gave an overview to Ardiuno Boards and its types. Then there was a “Question and Answer” round in which students clarified their doubts., The students were then taken to the open ground where Quadcopter was demonstrated.

The main objective of this guest lecture was to make the students aware of the practical techniques used in Robotics, quad-copters and components used, and trends in Electronics industry. Overall the lecture has been very useful for the students as it gave them an exposure to explore the latest components and techniques in the field of Robotics and related areas.
