Workshop on ‘Mobile Controlled Robotics : Advanced Level’

September 25th - 26th, 2014

Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering of Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida organized a two days workshop on Mobile Controlled Robotics: Advanced Level during 25th - 26th September, 2014 in the college premises which was conducted by i Sec Systems Private Limited. The objective of the workshop was to equip the participants with the design and troubleshooting mettle and improvise their technical skills in the field of robotics.

The program began with the floral welcome of resource person Mr. Rana and Mr. Chandan Raja, Senior Research Engineer, i Sec Systems Private Limited by Prof. (Dr.) M.S. Murali, Director, and Prof. B.L. Kaul, Registrar Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida. Prof. Rajiv Ranjan, Head of Department, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, DGI, Gr. Noida presented key note address and briefed the two days event’s schedule.

On first day, Mr. Viswajit Singh Rana, Senior Research Engineer, i Sec Systems Private Limited explained the following modules of ROBOTICS workshop:

1. Autonomous Robotics

2. Mobile Controlled Robotics

3. Sixth Sense Using MATLAB

4. Android Application Development

5. Cyber Security

6. UAV & Quadcopter and

7. Humanoid

Mr. Rana started his presentation with basics of ROBOT and pointed out different technological concepts of Autonomous Robotics, Mobile Controlled Robotics, Sixth Sense Using MATLAB, Android Application Development, Cyber Security, UAV & Quadcopter and Humanoid starting from basic level to intermediate stage and finally advanced level. Each participating team had been given the hardware components of Mobile Controlled Robotics and participants assembled those components under the guidance of Mr. Rana and Mr. Chandan Raja, Senior Research Engineer, i Sec Systems Private Limited.

Research Engineers explained machine language and high level language coding and helped participants in shorting- out problems encountered during assembly, interfacing and coding. At the end of the first day session, the participants were given a project on coding for situational real time problems.

On the second day, Mr. Rana and Mr. Chandan Raja checked the progress of the projects and helped all participating groups to complete their projects. A project competition on ‘Line Follower Mobile Controlled Robotics’ was organized by team i Sec Systems Private Limited. In the competition each group had to set their Mobile Controlled Robotics in such a way that it would take minimum time to follow a zig- zag line. Finally three teams were selected on the basis of performance of their Robot and controlling program. Three winning team will get a chance to participate in ‘PADARTH-2014’, ROBOTICS Event: Robo- Next 2014, at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay to be held in March, 2014.
