e-YANTRA-2015 : Final Zonal Round and Virtual Lab Inauguration

Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay organized e-Yantra Final Robotics Teachers’ Competition and Virtual Robotics Lab Inauguration at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College of Engineering & Technology, Noida on 16th January, 2015. The e-Yantra project is sponsored by MHRD through National Mission on Education through ICT started in 2012. The aim of the project was to provide a platform to implement different innovative ideas in Robotics. Four faculty members of Department of ECE and EEE Mr. Shiv Bhushan, Mr. Shamim Alam, Mr. Sapan Kumar Gupta and Mr. Kapil Dev Sharma participated as a team in final round of the competition from Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida.

The event started with the registration process at 9:00 AM. In his inaugural speech Prof. S.J. Wagh, Principal, MGM College of Engineering and Technology, Noida highlighted the key points of e-Yantra Teachers Robotics Competition 2015. Dr. Krishna Lala, Project Manager, E-Yantra, IIT Bombay, illustrated the need and benefits of e-Yantra. Following inaugural session, e-YRTC 2015 final round for Noida region started. 9 teams participated for final round. All the teams showed the capabilities of Fire Bird Robots according to the directions given by IIT Bombay.

In the post-lunch session, virtual inauguration of Robotics Lab at different engineering colleges was set up by e-Yantra Lab Setup Initiative Team.

5 teams successfully completed all the tasks got two robots as reward. The program came to an end with Ms. Ashvini Deshmukh’s thanking all the participants, organizers, MHRD, participating colleges and IIT Bombay.

One of the initiatives taken by IIT Bombay in e-Yantra is e-Yantra Lab Set-up Initiative (eLSI) which supports the infrastructure creation at different colleges by providing a platform for training teachers both in theory and applications of Robotics to guide to setting up a Robotics lab. After the competition, labs were also virtually inaugurated at different colleges. A Robotics lab was inaugurated at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida. The program came to an end with Ms. Ashvini Deshmukh’s extending Vote of Thanks to all the participants, IIT Bombay and MHRD.
